About the Variety
First planted in the 1960s, Gewürztraminer is one of the historic darling grapes of Anderson Valley, California. Standing proud as the second most planted white variety in the valley, there are currently 100 acres dedicated to this exceptional grape. Its journey begins beautifully in the vineyard, where the unique and exotic berries transform into stunning shades of iridescent pink right before they reach full maturity.
Stylistically, this wine is highly celebrated for its intense, captivating aromatics, yet it is often much crisper and spicier on the palate than the sweet nose might suggest. Pouring a glass reveals distinctive aromas of delicate rose petals and sweet lychee fruit. On the palate, the experience expands with luscious notes of white stone fruit, vibrant tropical flavors, and warm baking spices.
To craft diverse expressions, our local winemakers employ versatile techniques. Some bottles experience barrel aging and lees contact to add rich texture, with styles ranging effortlessly from delightfully off-dry to bone-dry. It is a true cool-climate masterpiece that perfectly honors the winemaking heritage of Anderson Valley, California.
